About Us

Designs From Space is an architectural, office planning and interior design team that conceives, builds and equips dental facilities.  The team leader is Robert Murphy who creates the dental office plans and coordinates the projects.  Bob grew-up in the dental industry, graduated from Boston University and has been involved with nearly 700 dental office projects. 

Bob learned dental office design from his father, Jim Murphy, who was a 50-year veteran of the dental industry.  Bob has also managed retail dental supply stores, been a lending officer for healthcare construction projects and sold dental equipment.  He has been a guest speaker at Harvard, Columbia and NYU dental schools as well as local dental societies and study groups.

Richard Lawrence, AIA provides the architectural expertise.  He is a registered professional architect and president of The Lawrence Associates, Manchester, CT.  Rick holds undergraduate and graduate degrees from Rennselear Polytechnic Institute.  He creates the exterior designs and architectural details.  Rick has designed and provided construction administration services for over 500 varied building projects.  His firm has won many awards for creativity and excellence.

Julia Riordan, ASID provides the interior design services.  She is a registered professional member of the American Society of Interior Designers and principal of JSR Interiors, Broad Brook, CT.  Julia is a graduate of Endicott College and has 17 years of interior design experience.  Much of the photo showcase reflects her skills and talent.
